In short, yes, a billion times yes!! Washing your lash extensions on a daily basis is great but honestly, you should be washing them more often than that.
Dead skin cells, natural oil/sebum excretion, daily dust and particles in the air can all get caught on your eyelid and on your lash extensions. When sweating or crying, any of those particles can get caught under and in between the lash extensions and once dried it will crust up and block your lash follicles.
A blocked lash follicle is a huge problem. This will cause the follicle to produce little demodex or eyelash mites to come out of the follicle. This can cause blepharitis which is a visible infection consisting of inflammation, scaling, reddening and crusting on the eyelid.
So the main question, When should you wash your lashes? Morning, before and after any exercise, and before bed. Now the next question you are probably asking is, How do I wash my lashes? Well, using your lash artists recommended foaming lash cleanser and a soft lash brush, you will do the following;
- Wet your lashes with room temp water.
- Add a little foam to your lash line and brush downward in small little circles very gently. *Scrub lightly side to side also if wearing mega volume.
- Rinse lashes with room temp or cool water until all cleanser is gone.
- Gently pat dry your lashes on a towel.
- Dry lashes with a fan for a bit then gently begin brushing through the lashes until they are fully dry.
Lash health is the number one priority for good lash retention. Oil interferes with the adhesives we use. Without clean lashes we cannot attach a lash properly. When the lash is clean we get a secure bond that will last. Work with your lash artist and keep your lashes clean.
